Czech Mate: debut tomorrow night at The Wisco

What is Czech Mate?

Czech Mate is my new project based on improvisation and looping.  I play my guitar and drum machine through my 2880 looper and craft instrumental sketches on the fly, mixing and remixing live with the little digital 4 track.  Guitar parts will spawn out of my delay, tremelo, fuzz, and volume pedals.  A lot of jams will just happen through playing with the rhythmic delay pedal.  On some songs I may pitch shift or reverse parts too, so things start to really morph into something unexpected.  Then I will play over the loops with more guitar parts or drum kit.  For people who know my past experimental sets as Nasty Thom & The Dirty Husbands (wonderfully named by John) this will be a lot like those.

I am playing tomorrow night at The Wisco with Forget The Times and I can’t wait.  Those guys really play!  Come see for yourself!  Tomorrow, 9:30pm, $5, with Troy Schafer’s band Rain Drinkers.

Hey all, cool news to share!  My great friends Lovely Socialite have recorded a debut album that they’re about to release next month on Mar 30th.  I’ve known most of these guys for several years now.  Ben and Pat, the Weather Duo, have been playing around town as long as I have, and we’ve played many shows together and are just close friends at this point.  Corey and I met through John Kruse when they were beginning to make music together, and we’ve been friends ever since and now we play in John’s band Pushmi-Pullyu together.  I got to know Brain Grimmer (Brian) a lot better after working with him at Murfie, and he’s awesome.  Anyway, they’re all great people and great musicians.  Now, to cover the expenses of recording and releasing this LP they need your help!  Check out their Kickstarter video…
